Minutes of the December 2003 General Meeting

The regular meeting of Branch 782 was called to order by President Frank Thomasy at 7:33 p.m. the 16th day of December, 2003at the Branch office, 2628 F Street, Bakersfield.  The flag salute was led by Sergeant-at-Arms Jeff Harrington.  All members of th eexecutive Board were present except Treasurer Molly Biggar.  The Stewards from 04,07, 08, Camino Media, Delano, Lamont, Shafter and Wasco were present.  Also present was Newsletter Editor Basil Zuniga, S.A.N.E. Fred Acedo, Webmaster Rick Plummer, OWCP Representative George Perez, Safety and Health Representative Danny Blair, and Anito Holderman of the Social and Recreation Committee.  The Minutes of the November 25, 2003 meeting were read and accepted with no additions or corrections.  The bills were read by Secretary Kim Gerdes.  Roger Pearce made a motion to pay the bills.  Seconded by Joe Jones and passed. 

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP:  none

REPORTS OF SPECIAL AND STANDING COMMITTEES:  Frank Thomasy reported that the Retiree Brunch will be February 15, 2004.  A special flyer will be sent to all retirees.  Frank also reported that Joe Jones, Rick Plummer and Fred Acedo will be retiring in January.  Joe Jones will be moving to Oklahoma.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:  none

NEW BUSINESS:  none.

GOOD OF THE ASSOCIATION:  Frank Thomasy reported that there will be a Budget Meeting on Wednesday, December 17, at 6:30.  There will be a Labor/Management Safety and Health meeting on Friday, December 19.  If anyone has any items of concern be sure to submit them to Danny Blair.

IMPROVEMENT OF THE ASSOCIATION:

FINANCIAL SECRETARY'S REPORT:  Dian Chavez reported that $11, 849.32 was collected for December 2003.

TREASURER'S REPORT:  Kim Gerdes read the Treasurer's report: 

Beginning Balance        $35,920.16

Dues and Income         $10,420.91

Interest Income            $           .15

Balance                        $46,341.22

Total Expenses             $  7,915.04

Ending Balance             $38,426.18

The COLCPE drawing was won by Margaret Romero.

The drawing for $300.00 would have been won by James Alvarado, except he was not present.

There were 35 members present.

The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
