The regular meeting of Branch 782 was called to order by President Frank Thomasy at 7:30 pm, the 22nd day of April, 2003 at the Branch Office, 2628 F Street, Bakersfield, CA.  The flag salute was led by Sergeant at Arms Jeff Harrington.  All members of the Executive Board were present.  The stewards from 04, 06, 08 Camino Media, Delano, Lamont, Shafter and Wasco were present.  Also present was Newsletter Editor Basil Zuniga.  Anita Holderman of the Social and Recreation Committee was also present. 

The minutes of the March 25, 2003 meeting were read and accepted with no additions or corrections.  The communications were read.

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP:    An application was received from Beverly Moland, Shannon Jones and Manuel Martinez.

REPORTS OF SPECIAL AND STANDING COMMITTEES:  Margaret Romero reported that the Picnic Committee will meet following in the May Steward Meeting.  Irene Pasos will head the Picnic Committee again this year.  Basil Zuniga reported on his trip to Paso Robles to meet with Forrest Willard. Basil had the printer fold the newsletter this month, so East Bakersfield Station will have their turn to fold the news letter in May.  Pam Mauck reported that the Food Drive is May 10th.  The cards are here and should be delivered by Thursday, May 8.  She also reported that T-shirts are available for $10 each.  See Pam to order a shirt.

GOOD OF THE ASSOCIATION:  Frank Thomasy acknowledged the retirees in attendance at tonight's meeting:  Bill Quinlin, Paul Alexander, Bill Marchand, Ralfie Ochoa and Joe Gandera.  Mike Towery reported on the route count and adjustments.  Frank Thomasy reported on problems with the rental.  Diana Chavez reported on the DC lobbying trip.  S380 has passed the Senate and President will sign it.  Frank Thomasy reported on two cases involving OWCP and Kaiser.  Memorial Park to unveil the Caesar Chavez stamp.  Clint Gallahar made a motion the the Branch spend $100 to provide refreshments at the presentation.  Seconded by Roger Pearce and passed.  Mike Towery reported that Judy Roberson will be the acting steward at Brundage Station.
